Jim Wheat: From Corporate to Contemporary Art

A Journey of Passion, Creativity, and Collaboration

After a challenging period in 2009 and 2010, Jim Wheat made an uninvited crash into the art world, transitioning from the corporate construction sector to the world of contemporary expression. His journey began deep within the sand-filled bunkers of commercial management at Dubai Golf, where he faced a time of change. Over the next 14+ years, Jim's relentless pursuit of creativity became his lifeline, and art became his survival mechanism.

From this passion, he developed the Engage : Create : Facilitate model, which he enthusiastically lives by today. This approach allows him to help others tell their stories while benefiting his best-in-breed brand partners in both the U.K.and U.A.E., adding value to their businesses along the way.

In 2024, Jim’s 15th collection, ironically entitled Health is Wealth, emerged as a cathartic expression during his recovery from Carpel Tunnel Surgery. Inspired by the need to overcome his painting-dominant left hand issues, he ventured into painting with his right hand, with surprising results. The collection symbolized his personal journey of healing, and its impact was felt far and wide.

Jim's philosophy of well-being blends creativity with the balance of life—ranging from red hot curries to ice-cold baths, ambling and rambling with like-minded brands, people, and causes. He explores both sides of the coin, using the currency of authenticity to fuel his creative expression.

As Jim continues his recovery, 2025 is set to amplify key brand partnerships, including golf course collaborations, all while passionately waxing lyrical on vinyl. Even though his recovery is gradual, Jim is eager to remain involved, whether by creating or sponsoring charitable golf days for authentic causes. Art UAE was proud to collaborate with Jim Wheat on Dollar Sand Art exhibitions, as well as events at House of Poetry, Jumeirah Terrace, Meydan Golf Club, and the iconic QE2.

Feel free to explore Jim's online portfolio, which highlights his captivating work and the collaborations of the last decade—just a couple of clicks away!

Lucia Oliva: A Multitalented Contemporary Artist

The work of Lucia Oliva, a multitalented contemporary artist, communicates through an intuitive and universal language, rich in striking scenic effects. Her creations aim to evoke both an emotional and conceptual impact on the observer.

Her artistic message culminates in a triumph of joy, a final gift to the viewer, expressed through human values, experiences, situations, and reflections. Her work continually refers to her love for life, nature, and humanity, weaving these themes into each piece she creates.

Lucia Oliva has collaborated with ARTUAE and Arab Fashion Week by Fashion TV Dubai, showcasing her distinct approach to art in prominent settings.

The Sculptural Art of Lucia Oliva

Lucia works primarily with natural stone, often marble and volcanic rock, drawn to their time-worn shapes marked by accidents and grooves, which serve as her sources of inspiration. She sculpts these stones with color, bringing a unique expression to each piece.

Her art often incorporates small installations, using mirrors and other accessories to enhance the sculptural and pictorial effects. Her works almost appear to come to life, embodying a harmony and movement that highlight the lightness of stone.

An Artistic Journey Rooted in Music, Dance, and Painting

A self-taught artist, Lucia grew up with a deep love for music, dance, and painting. After an early, award-winning debut as a young painter, she returned to figurative arts in 2013, transitioning into an extensive international career in choreography, dance, and event organizing.

For Lucia, music and movement are life itself. Her steps, words (she also enjoys writing poems), strokes, and colors all merge in her soul, taking form in her works. When inspiration strikes, the artwork is already there, waiting to unfold.

A Growing Success

Lucia’s original artworks have gained rapid success and recognition, leading to invitations for numerous solo and group exhibitions in Italy, India, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and beyond. Her works continue to receive acclaim, captivating audiences around the world with their depth, beauty, and soul.

Saeeda Ali: Mastering the Art of Reverse Painting on Glass

Sayeeda Ali: A Visionary Artist from Visakhapatnam

Born and raised in Visakhapatnam, Sayeeda Ali discovered art as her true calling at an early age. Facing personal challenges, including dyslexia, she found solace in painting, which became both a refuge and a profound medium of self-expression. Over the years, Sayeeda has cultivated a distinct artistic voice, mastering the intricate art of reverse painting on glass, alongside creating evocative works on canvas and acrylic sheets.

The Art of Reverse Painting on Glass

Reverse painting on glass is a demanding technique where the artist paints on the reverse side of a glass or acrylic surface. The artwork is designed in a layered, backward sequence, resulting in a final image that radiates depth, luminosity, and vibrancy when viewed from the front. Sayeeda Ali’s expertise in this meticulous art form allows her to create compositions that are both technically complex and emotionally resonant, bringing life to colors and textures with a magical, almost ethereal quality.

Canvas & Acrylic Sheet Creations

In addition to glass, Sayeeda Ali’s repertoire extends to canvas and acrylic sheets, where her expressive brushwork and layered techniques continue to evoke emotion and spirituality. Whether working with oils, mixed media, or acrylics, her art reflects themes of healing, introspection, and the impermanence of life, offering viewers a journey into serenity and self-reflection.

A Journey of Healing and Resilience

For Sayeeda, art has always been more than a practice—it is a path to inner healing. Despite navigating life with partial hearing impairment, she continues to channel her sensitivity and emotional depth into her art, embracing the beauty and fragility of existence. Her creations aim to inspire tranquility and contemplation, offering both herself and her audience a sanctuary through artistic expression.

Mentorship and Evolution

Sayeeda’s artistic journey has been shaped by some of India’s most respected mentors:

Prof. V. Ramesh, T. Sudhakar Reddy, and G. Ravindra Reddy (Andhra University)

Prof. K. Laxma Goud (Central University)

Prof. K.G. Subrahmanyam (Art Workshop)

Under their guidance, she explored experimental forms and techniques, refining her signature reverse painting style and expanding her creative approach across various mediums.
